Program
Description
The Academy
at Sisters was established in 1994 as
a small, emotional growth boarding school for young women. The Academy focuses on transforming crisis
and chaos into commitment and change.
They do this by employing a “back to basics” approach, which emphasizes
personal responsibility and accountability.
The Personal Growth Program at The Academy requires residents to think about how they think, examine
their values and take a responsible approach to living, learning and
interacting with others. The Personal
Growth Program addresses a wide variety of problems and behaviors, and may
include those of young women who are beyond parental control, chronically
truant from school, and possess poor refusal skills or other peer group
issues. This program also deals with
academic underachieving, drug and alcohol involvement as well as crisis-bound
family relationships. The Academy has an
academic program with a college preparatory curriculum. The
Academy at Sisters Learning Center is dedicated to the mission of providing
an environment that promotes integrity and develops critical thinking in an
atmosphere of positive relationships and mutual respect.
