AGENCY DESCRIPTION

The ChristieCare provides an array of comprehensive mental health services to children and families in both community-based and residential settings.  Treatment is based upon the assessment of physical; psychological; emotional and social needs of children and families, and draws from the expertise of a variety of professional personnel.  Christie mental health services focus on asset-building and integrating families into every step of the child's treatment process.  Christie has adopted the principles of the American Re-Education Association, which helps children achieve their therapeutic goals by offering an environment that focuses on building strengths, improving self-esteem and increasing the frequency of positive reactions children receive from their surroundings.  This strength-based approach to psychiatric services contributes to the programs' tremendous success rate -- over 80% of children are succeeding in less restrictive living environments in the community six months after discharging from Christie psychiatric residential programs (the national average is 50-60%).  Christie's internal procedures and systems incorporate a paperless reporting system and real-time treatment tracking, which complies with evidence-based practice legislation passed by the State of Oregon.  Christie also collaborates with the Clackamas Education Service District to provide therapeutic educational services and on-site education.
